Get Specific!

Visualization -- picturing the shot you want to hit in your mind before you hit it -- should be an important part of your pre-shot routine. You usually can picture what type of shot you want to hit, and these images are like a set of instructions sent from your mind to your body. Make them as detailed as possible: Rather than simply imagining tha ball landing in the fairway or on the green, picture how the swing looks, what the trajectory is like and the precise spot where the ball lands. For approach shots, visualize the depth of the divot and how the ball bounces after finding the target. On the greens, see the ball fall into the hole. Does it drop on its last revolution or ram into the back of the cup? The more specific your mind is, the better your body understands what you want, and the more likely it is to deliver.
